This newly described species was previously known for years within the hobby as Chilobrachys sp. 'electric blue'. They are a large, obligate burrower from Southern Thailand. Specimens have been found living within mangrove forests and highland evergreen forests in burrows built both in elevated tree hollows and in excavated ground, indicating flexible habitat requirements and the acceptance of a wide range of conditions.
