Porcellio hoffmannseggii 'black' (Hoffmannsegg’s woodlouse) 6ct
Porcellio hoffmannseggii 'black' (Hoffmannsegg’s woodlouse) 6ct
This is a large species native to southern Portugal, Southern Spain, the Balearic Islands of Ibiza and Formentera, and Northern Morocco. They are often touted as the largest or second-largest species within the hobby, behind Porcellio magnificus. This cultivar is believed to have derived from specimens collected from Moroccan populations, and they possess more obvious white skirts with darker body coloration and lack the white bordering at the intersection of the pereon segments compared to the original cultivar. Individuals are typically found in dry coastal and mountainous areas where they hide within and along calcareous rock formations. Despite the common belief within the hobby, they do not prefer dry conditions, and keeping them in such conditions can be fatal. They require access to areas with higher moisture levels, particularly mancae. This closely resembles their natural conditions, as humidity inside rock crevices can be much higher than the surrounding ambient humidity. However, like many of the large Porcellio species, they are susceptible to death from excessively moist substrate and stale humid air. The key to successfully keeping them is to ensure that the proper air circulation is present to prevent stagnant, humid conditions within their enclosure.

We can offer home delivery upon request, but LAG cannot be guaranteed due to the unpredictability of this shipping method.
